Configure Segmentation

Segmentation preferences allow you specify how the TXLF editor breaks file content into logical segments for a given project.

To select segmentation options:

  1. Select Preferences from the Wordfast drop-down menu.
  2. Click Segmentation under New Project Preferences.
  3. Select Segmentation on break to enable segmentation on line breaks.
  4. Select APPLICATION or SRX from the Segmentation Type drop-down list.
  5. Define the end-of-segment marker (ESM) characters.
    1. (Optional) Enter specific characters into the ESM field to specify custom segment end characters.

    2. (Optional) Select checkboxes for any additional end-of-segment markers.

    1. Tab—Enable tabs as a segment end character.

    2. Non Breaking Space—Enable non-breaking white spaces as a segment end character.

    3. Line Feed—Enable line-feed ASCII codes as a segment end character.

    4. Carriage Return—Enable carriage return ASCII codes as a segment end character.

  6. Select the rules you want for ending segments.
    • Use a number followed by an end of a segment marker.

    • End a segment without a trailing space character.

    • End a segment followed by a space character and a lower-case letter.

  7. Select a language from the drop-down menu.
  8. (Optional) Enter abbreviations you want to ban during the segmentation process, separated by commas.
  9. (Optional) Enter and review sample text to test your configuration.
  10. Click OK.
