Connect to a Remote Glossary

You can connect to a glossary that resides on another computer, including a free hosted service: WordFast Anywhere (WFA).

  Note:

WordFast Anywhere allows translators to connect to a shared server and interact with a private, remote translation memory (TM) and glossary.

To connect to a remote glossary:

  1. On the Project Terminology tab, click Connect To Remote in the Terminology group.
  2. In the resulting Connect to Remote Glossary dialog, select the appropriate tab, based on your server options.
  3. (Optional) Add a Term Manager (TMGR) Server on the TMGR Server tab.

    Name

    Enter a unique name for the glossary.

    Target Language

    Select a language from the drop-down list. This list is constrained by the available target languages for your project.

    URL

    Enter the remote glossary URL using the following format: tmgr://address:port/TMGR?. The remaining URL Settings automatically populate when you enter the URL string. Click Test to validate the connection.

    Selected

    (Optional) Select the current glossary for the project.

    Read Only

    (Optional) Select to leverage the glossary without updating new terms.

    Create Blacklist Connection

    (Optional) Select to connect to an available blacklist already in TMGR.

  4. (Optional) Add a WF Server on the WF Server tab.

    Enter the remote glossary URL using the following format: wf://jsmith:password@12345. The remaining URL Settings automatically populate when you enter the URL string. Click Test to validate the connection.

    (Optional) Select to use the current glossary for the project.

    Read Only

    (Optional) Select to leverage the glossary without updating new terms.

  5. Click OK.
  6. (Optional) Add a WFA Server on the WFA Server tab.

    API Key

    Enter the API key you obtain from WordFast Anywhere.

    1. Log in to your free WordFast Anywhere account at https://www.freetm.com.

    2. Click on TMs & Glossaries, then Setup.

    3. In the resulting TMs and glossaries management dialog, select a TM or Glossary to make it active.

    4. Click Manage Sharing.

    5. In the resulting TMs and glossaries shares dialog, click on the API key and copy the text string.

    6. Paste the API key into the Connect to Remote TM dialog on the WFA Server tab using the following format: username@1234567, then click Test to validate the connection.

    Selected

    (Optional) Select to use the current glossary for the project.

    Read Only

    (Optional) Select to leverage the glossary without updating new terms.

  7. Click OK.

    The new glossary is displayed in the project terminology list.
